Oklahoma United 2023 Highlights

See how far we came in 2023!

January 1, 2024

It’s been another amazing year for regular Oklahomans like us who are ready for better things for our beautiful state. We are poised in January to define an open primary citizen petition policy with the confidence it reflects the will of the people and will succeed.

In our three years of education and outreach around the state, we've met thousands of Oklahomans who feel just like you do - that partisan bickering needs to stop and we need to find common sense solutions to our most pressing issues.

Statewide open primaries are necessary for real change. The hard truth is that nothing will ever improve unless we create accountability, competition, and common purpose with a fully open primary. Here's what all we accomplished in 2023:

  • We created digital media and generated earned media to educate citizens about the election system
  • We assembled a crack team of student interns and put them to work on outreach events and research projects
  • We generated thousands of additional dollars in small amounts to sustain our movement and build grassroots support
  • We met with community leaders and professionals eager and able to help us bring a citizen petition to the people
  • We assisted in the successful protection of Oklahomans’ constitutional right to present citizen petitions
  • We shared primary election information and sought individual views at churches, conventions, private homes, and public burger nights
  • We provided a place for centrists and real problem solvers to gather and voice their concerns and ideas
  • We engaged at the national level to find expertise that supports our grassroots effort
  • We produced two major open primary expert panels with prominent Oklahoma and national political thought leaders
  • We took our message directly to legislators, promoting listening to our supporters and the majority of Oklahomans who don’t like where we sit

What’s next?

Our highly-anticipated poll will run during the second week of January. That data will inform and confirm the path for a petition policy. Immediately after the poll, we will let all our supporters know where we stand and our next steps. Things will move fast from there!

Buckle up for safety. We’re in for a ride in 2024!
